For the 2025 season, the touchback spot on a kickoff moved from the 30-yard line to the 35. That is it. The dynamic kickoff formation stayed as it was.
Five yards was enough to change every coach's mind.
The logic is coaching psychology, not physics. Conceding the 30 was tolerable. Conceding the 35 was not. So teams stopped booting it through the end zone and started placing it where it had to be returned.
